About

fbt

Being a mother of three and wife has fulfilled many of my dreams. Living in a house full of kids can be a challenge, but there is guaranteed energy around every corner. My husband and I are passionate about traveling the world and hope to share that sense of adventure with our children. Prior to choosing life as a doula, I earned a masters in education and taught science, social studies and math for 7 years.

Becoming a doula is the most fascinating career choice I’ve made. I have a passion for teaching, so after completing the Birth Boot Camp course for my first child, I knew that educating in the birth realm was for me. It was through the encouragement of my doula and husband that lead me further along the birth path into certifying as a doula. They saw in me the ability to deliver non judgmental support to clients through customized birth classes, contracted postpartum doula hours, placenta encapsulation services, and especially as a labor doula.

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: Some of the most helpful resources that I have found are online groups that include families from all over the globe. These types of groups allow a wide spectrum of information. My favorite app to use for a parenting “heads up” is Wonder Weeks. It allows me to understand the stages of cognitive development that my child is going through.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: EXCITEMENT! I’m so excited to hear their birth story and how they are adjusting to life as a new mom. Every birthing experience is so unique; no two stories are ever alike!

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: An ear and an open heart are the two most valuable gifts that I can give to a new mom. An ear to listen to her needs, emotions, desires as a new mom. And an open heart to support her in the way in which she needs. Non judgmental support.
